There are few treks that combine so many different landscapes and bring you so close to the base of 7,000 and 8,000 m high peaks in such a short period of time as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Annapurna is a Sanskrit name which literally means “full of food” (feminine form), but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. The trail goes alongside terraced rice paddies, lush rhododendron forests, and high altitude landscapes, with the Annapurna Range in view most of the times. Annapurna Base Camp trek is fairly easy for the most part and anyone reasonably fit can complete it without much hassle.

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) was created in 1985, which is the largest protected area in Nepal covering 7,629 sq. km. Annapurna I (8091m) the highest peak in the range is the 10th highest peak in the world. It was the first 8000 meter peak ever summitted, in June 1950 by a French expedition led by Maurice Herzog.
