Trip Overview

Cultural Tours are designed to give you a firsthand experience on many aspects of Bhutanese life and culture. These tours introduces visitors to unique aspects of Bhutanese history and rich culture with visits to age old Dzongs (fortresses), religious dance festivals, pilgrimage sites, museums, fascinating excursions to villages and monasteries and local sightseeing which offers an insight into the distinct culture, age old traditions and lifestyle of the deeply spiritual and mystical kingdom.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive by Druk Air, the only national carrier. The flight offers you beautiful view of mountains and landscapes. On arrival and after visa formalities you will be received by MJTT members and transfer to Hotel Olathang or similar. If time permits s/seeing. Evening stroll around the market.
  • Day 2: Paro Sightseeing - visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel dzong which still attracts visitors due to the strategic location of the fort. The fort defended the Paro valley from the Tibetan invasion from the north in the early 17th century. On clear weather Mount Chomolhari 7320 meters can be seen towering over the dzong. Proceed through the beautiful valley to the watch tower or locally known as Ta-Dzong. It was housed into the National museum in the 1960s by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The seven floors museum highlights various aspects of Bhutanese culture and history dating back to the 7th century. A short walk downhill to the Rinpung Dzong which serves as the administrative center and school for monks. Late after noon drive 1 & 1/2 hours to Thimphu (54 Kms) which is the capital of Bhutan. Evening free time. Overnight at Hotel River view or similar.
  • Day 3: AM Thimphu sightseeing - visit the Memorial chorten built in the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15 century Changangkha monastery and the new Drupthob nunnery temple. PM drive back to Paro via visiting the first building built in Bhutan the Simtokha Dzong. It now houses the Buddhist university. Arrive Paro. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Olathang or similar
  • Day 4: Transfer to airport for departure.

Cost includes

  • Full package on room sharing basis, airport transfers in Bhutan.
  • All other transfer and sightseeing with an English speaking guide as per the program.
  • Visa fee, entrance fee.

Cost does not include

  • All expenses of personal nature, personal tips, alcoholic beverages, cold drinks and mineral water.
  • Travel insurance, personal medical expenses.
  • Any costs arising due to flight cancellation, political disturbance, natural disaster and deviation in programs. Flight to/from Paro, Bhutan.
