Overview

The Yalung Ri and Pachhermo Peak climbing expedition is a remarkable Himalayan adventure that combines two distinct peaks in Nepal’s remote Rolwaling Valley. This journey offers climbers the opportunity to experience both a beginner-friendly peak (Yalung Ri) and a more challenging summit (Pachhermo) within a single expedition, all while traversing one of Nepal’s least-visited trekking regions and crossing the dramatic Tashi Lapcha Pass.

Yalung Ri is a non-technical mountain situated in the eastern part of Nepal’s Rolwaling Valley. At 5,630 meters, it serves as an ideal entry point for beginning mountaineers with limited to no previous climbing experience . The peak offers a mixed climb of rock, ice, and snow, requiring basic mountaineering equipment but posing few technical challenges.

Pachhermo Peak (also spelled Pharchamo) stands at 6,273m meters and is classified as one of Nepal’s most beautiful trekking peaks . Pachhermo is graded PD+ (Peu Difficile+) on the Alpine scale and First climbed in 1955. It remains a hidden gem for climbers seeking both challenge and reward. The peak features a well-defined north ridge rising from the Tashi Lapcha Pass, with crevasses and seracs forming the southwestern ridge above the Trolambau Glacier .

Pachhermo is graded PD+ (Peu Difficile+) Alpine Grade 2B.:

  • Prior high-altitude trekking experience
  • Advanced mountaineering skills (jumar, descender, harness, fixed rope techniques)
  • Glacier travel experience
  • Excellent physical fitness
