Overview
One of the most beautiful peaks in the world, Ama dablam or “mother’s necklace” is an iconic peak located in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal, over the famous Sherpa villages of Thyangboche and Pangboche on the trail to Everest base camp. Ama dablam was climbed in 1961 via the South-Western Ridge and is now the standard route for all commercial expedition operators.
The route is a significant climbing challenge with technical sections of snow, exposed route on ice, and rock at relative high altitude. Climbers must have experience with fixed ropes, and be comfortable climbing along very exposed ridgelines. The view from the summit is spectacular, as one can see Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Sishapangma. Ama Dablam also present s a stepping stone to more independent expeditions on big Himalayan peaks.
