Location: Between Thame and Gokyo valleys, Khumbu region
Status: One of Nepal’s least explored trekking peaks
First Ascent: 2002 by Franco-British team
Climbing Grade: Semi-technical mixed climb

Summit Day

  • Climbing Route – Southwest Ridge
  • Base Camp to Camp 1 (5,350m): Long non-technical walk on rough terrain
  • Camp 1 to Camp 2 (5,700m): Short but challenging scramble over scree and boulders
  • Camp 2 to Summit: 12 pitches of snow and ice climbing
  • Summit Push: Features 2 steep pitches at 60° gradient just below summit

Brief Itinerary

  • Day 01:
    Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
  • Day 02:
    In Kathmandu for official procedures and preparations.
  • Day 03:
    Drive to Ramechap airport ( 5 hrs ) for a scheduled flight to Lukla (2840m). Meet with your crew and we start a moderate ascent to Phakding where we spend our first night. (2610m). O/N Lodge.
  • Day 04:
    Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 05:
    At Namche Bazar exploration hike. Visit the Tourist Visitor Center and museum, or the Everest View Hotel . O/N Lodge.
  • Day 06:
    Trek to Dole (4000m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 07:
    Trek to Machhermo (4470m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 08:
    Trek to Gokyo (4790m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 09:
    At Gokyo : Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5360m) for spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 10:
    Trek to Lungden via Renjo pass (5340m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 11:
    Trek to Thame (3820m). O/N Lodge.
  • Day 12:
    Trek to Mende (3740m). O/N Camp.
  • Day 13:
    Trek to Kyajo ri BC (4550m) O/N Camp.
  • Day 14:
    Rest day and preparations for the climb.
  • Day 15:
    Move to high camp (5300m).
  • Day 16:
    Move to camp I (5700m).
  • Day 17:
    Summit Kyajo ri (6186m) and descend to high camp.
  • Day 18:
    Descend to Base camp.
  • Day 19:
    Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) O/N Lodge.
  • Day 20:
    Trek to Lukla. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 21:
    Schedule flight: Lukla-Ramechap airport and drive back to Kathmandu.
  • Day 22:
    Free day in Kathmandu.
  • Day 23:
    International Departure.
