Kanchenjunga Trek

Trek Highlights

Kanchenjunga, meaning “Five Treasures of Snow” in the local dialect, is a massive mountain massif. This trek is significantly longer and more remote than the Everest or Annapurna circuits, offering a sense of exploration that is rare in modern trekking.

  • Dual Base Camps: Most comprehensive itineraries visit both the Pangpema (North Base Camp, 5,143m) and Ramche (South Base Camp, 4,730m), providing a 360-degree perspective of this colossal mountain.
  • Unrivaled Biodiversity: The trail passes through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, home to red pandas, snow leopards, and over 2,000 species of flowering plants. You will traverse through tropical jungles, rhododendron forests, and high-altitude alpine meadows.
  • Cultural Tapestry: You will encounter the unique cultures of the Limbu, Rai, and Sherpa communities, whose traditions remain deeply tied to the mountains and have been less influenced by modern tourism.
