Dawa Sherpa is the Managing Director of Climbalaya Treks and Expeditions. He has more than 16 years of experience in the tourism industry and has organized more than hundred expeditions, treks and tours in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and India.
He is a well organized natural leader and an expert in planning and organizing top notch adventure experience for many satisfied clients. His key skills include having a keen eye for detail and his unwavering work ethic which ensures the client’s safety and welfare in the mountains. A highly motivated and competent Team Leader with a strong vision to achieve successful outcomes for clients and colleagues.
He has organized significant expeditions such as British Royal Airforce Everest expedition, Hampshire expedition to Mt. Amadablam, Cho-Oyu and Everest, Ken Noguchi expeditions, expeditions via the Kangshung face on Everest, Russian Everest expedition on the central wall, Indian Navy Everest expedition and many other world record expeditions (for individuals) in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. He has also led and organized overall logistics for filming groups such as Kanakna’s Peking express (a reality TV show in Europe), Independent Television News (UK), Atlantic Productions (UK), National Geographic channel, Uppercut Films (UK), Everest Media Productions and others during the making of documentary on adventures and mountains.
With over twenty five 8000 meter peak summits, including nine on Mt. Everest, twelve summits of Mt. Cho-Oyu, three summits on Mt. Manaslu, and Mt. Shishapangma , Mingma Sherpa is one of the most accomplished and respected climbing Sirdars in Nepal. A native of Thame in the Solukhumbu district, a village known to the world of great climbing Sherpas like Apa Sherpa (Guinness world record holder), Lhakpa Rita Sherpa (Veteran and famous climber), Mingma Sherpa is also the Managing Director of Climbalaya who is now responsible for logistics operations and client relations. As managing and expedition leader for our expeditions, he directs and organizes our team of Sherpa and clients on the mountains.
Mingma has the experience, expertise and strength to help our teams to climb safely and successfully organized complicated logistics for large Himalayan teams and is experienced in assisting and organizing rescues. His working relationships with China Tibet Mountaineering Association (CTMA) rope fixing team is the key to our trip's success. He works closely with the Chinese team and monitors our clients and Sherpa team’s logistics on Everest every year.
Mingma’s climbing and guiding achievements are significant. He has successfully guided the oldest American Mt. Everest summiteer, Bill Burke in 2009 from Nepal side and again in 2014 from the Tibetan side. He has also guided Ms. Tamae Watanabe from Japan (Guinness world record holder for the oldest female Mt. Everest summiteer in 2012 from Tibet side), guided David Liano (Guinness world record holder to summit Mt. Everest twice in a climbing season from two different sides i.e. Nepal and Tibet.) and guided the first combat wounded veteran Charlie Linville of the Heroes Project to the summit of Mt Everest. This was also Mingma's 10th Everest summit.
A certified NNMGA/UIAGM/IFMGA guide, Phurba Namgyal Sherpa is also the Managing Director of Climbalaya who is responsible for logistics operations and client relations.
Phurba found his passion for the outdoors and climbing early in life when he was first contracted as a trekking guide for a Japanese team to Yala peak (5520m). Since then he has worked with many adventure tourism agencies and successfully summited Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Ama Dablam , Mt. Baruntse and many other peaks in Nepal. As a fluent in German and English language, Phurba has also guided trips in the Alps several times.
He has the skills such as right temperament, dedication and friendly approach to lead and help the climbing teams accomplish their goals.
Guides like Phurba is what makes Climbalaya stand out as a passionate and committed operator of adventure treks and expeditions.
Finjo Tashi hails from Thame village and is the manager at Climbalaya. Finjo plays an integral part in coordinating client logistics such as communications, bookings, client relations and looking after the welfare of the clients in Nepal. His excellent communication skills in Chinese and Tibetan languages is a huge asset for Climbalaya.
Manoj joined Climbalaya as an asst. Accountant in 2016 and has quickly learned all the required skills with extensive experience in accounting and financing. Manoj also makes sure that all the official documents of the organization are up to date and is always ready to learn new things. Manoj is currently pursuing a master’s degree in finance and accounting.
Ngima Tenzing Sherpa hails from Thame village in Solukhumbu district and has been a key member of Climbalaya. With his wealth of experience and expertise in managing logistical operations, he is Climbalayas’ expedition Sirdar on Mt. Everest and Mt. Manaslu every year. His ever friendly smile, positive and friendly attitude earns him much respect from all our clients and the Sherpa team.Ngima has successfully scaled Mt. Everest 3 times, Mt. Manaslu 1 time, Amadabalam, Himlung, and other smaller peaks.
Chhiring Wanchu Sherpa hails from Thame village in Solukhumbu district and has been working with Climbalaya ever since its establishment in 2014. Chhiring’s dedication towards his duties is beyond comparison and his humble attitude has been liked by one and all. When Chhiring is not on climbing and trekking duties, he is involved in playing Damngyang (A Tibetan/Sherpa guitar ) and loves to sing and perform. He also teaches his skills to aspiring Sherpa and Tibetan musicians.Chhiring has successfully scaled Mt. Everest 9 times, Mt. Cho-Oyu 3 times, Mt. Manaslu 2 times, Mt. Lhotse, Muztaghata, Ama Dablam and other smaller peaks.
Pemba Tenjing (senior) is the elder brother of Mingma Sherpa, Director at Climbalaya and hails from Thame. A veteran of 17 successful summits on Everest and other 8000m peaks, Pemba is our senior climbing Sirdar and one of the strongest Sherpas that you will ever meet in the mountains. A quiet and humble person, Pemba looks after his family and his lodge in Thamo when is not climbing.Pemba’s other summits and experiences include Mt. Cho-Oyu 2 times, Mt. Shishapangma, Mt. Himlung, Mt. Baruntse, Mt. Muztaghata, Mt. Ama Dablam , Mt. Elbrus and other smaller peaks.
Pemba Tenjin (junior) hails from Thame and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2015. A very careful planner, positive attitude and his wealth of experience makes him one of the most sought guide. Pemba has scaled Mt. Everest 15 times and his other summits and experiences include Mt. Cho-Oyu 2 times, Mt. Shishapangma, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Muztaghata, Mt. Ama Dablam and other smaller peaks.
Mingma Nuru Sherpa hails from Thame and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2016. A quiet and humble person, Mingma is ever ready to perform his work and has climbed Mt. Everest 3 times and other smaller peaks.
Rita Goljen hails from Thame and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2016. A well-known and liked member of our Sherpa team has climbed Mt. Everest 3times, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Baruntse and other smaller peaks.
Pemba Tenzing is the youngest member in our Sherpa team at 25 yrs and hails from Thame and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, and an asst. trekking and peak climbing guide since 2016. Pemba has summited Mt. Everest 4 times and is currently pursuing his advance mountaineering course. He aspires to be a successful certified Mountain guide in the near future.
Lhakpa hails from Phortse village and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa since 2016. He has summited Mt. Everest 10 times and is a super strong Sherpa both at work and on the mountain. A very humble person and his wealth of experience makes him one of the most sought guides in Climbalaya. Lhakpa’s other summits and experiences include Mt. Manaslu 6 times, Mt. Lhotse, 2 times Mt. Muztaghata, Mt. Ama Dablam and other smaller peaks.
Ngima Nuru hails from Thameteng and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2018. A well-known and liked member of our Sherpa team has climbed Mt. Everest 5 times, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Baruntse and other smaller peaks.
Pema (junior) hails from Thame village and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2016. A well-known and liked member of our Sherpa team has climbed Mt. Everest 3 times and other smaller peaks.
Naina Kumar Rai joined Climbalaya as a cook in 2016 and has been an integral part of our team. Kumar as he is fondly called is the man behind many of our successful expedition teams. Under challenging conditions, he ensures that the kitchen and dining tents are in good hygiene conditions and team is well fed with nutritious and variety of food.
Ngima Tshering hails from Thame and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide. A well-known and liked member of our Sherpa team has climbed Mt. Everest 3times, Mt. Amadablam 2 times, Island peak, Lobuche peak and Mera peak.

Lakpa Temba Sherpa hails from Bengkar and has been working with Climbalaya as climbing Sherpa, trekking and peak climbing guide since 2019. Lakpa has climbed Mt. Everest 4 times, Mt. Amadablam 1 time, Island peak, Lobuche peak and Mera peak.
