Overview
Mt. Shishapangma is the 14th highest peak in the world, and the only 8,000m peak lying entirely in Tibet. Shisha Pangma, known in Tibetan as “the god of the grasslands”, is the lowest of the world`s fourteen 8000 meter peaks. It was first climbed in 1964 by a Tibetan-Chinese expedition and was opened to foreign climbers in 1978. The Northwest Ridge, our climbing route, offers a direct route to Shishapangma’s Central Summit. A challenging knife-edge ridge connects the slightly lower Central Summit to the mountain’s South Summit at 8,027m -26,335 ft.
The climbing route is straightforward, and the objective hazards of the climb are minimal. Advanced Base Camp (ABC) will be established at 5540m-18,171ft, Camp I at 6200m-20,300 ft, Camp II at 6700m-22,000 ft. and Camp III at 7400m-24,300 ft.
