The City of Sunlight

Perched high on the Tibetan Plateau, Lhasa – known as the “Sunlight City” – is more than a destination. It is the spiritual and cultural heart of Tibet, where ancient Buddhist traditions breathe beneath a canopy of prayer flags and golden temple roofs.

This 4-day journey offers an immersive experience into centuries-old monasteries, sacred relics, and living traditions. From the imposing grandeur of the Potala Palace to the spiritual pulse of the Jokhang Temple, and the lively devotion of pilgrims circling the Barkhor Market, every moment in Lhasa is a step into a timeless world.

Whether you are a spiritual seeker, a history enthusiast, or a curious traveler, this tour promises an unforgettable encounter with Tibetan civilization.

Trip Highlights

  • Potala Palace (UNESCO World Heritage): Explore the former winter home of the Dalai Lama – a fortress of intricate murals, sacred stupas, and golden tombs of eight past Dalai Lamas.
  • Jokhang Temple: The spiritual heart of Tibet, where pilgrims prostrate and pray before the most sacred statue of Buddha.
  • Sera Monastery (1419): Witness monks in philosophical debate and wander through “the court of wild roses”
  • Drepung Monastery: Once home to 10,000 monks, this Gelukpa monastery offers sweeping views and deep silence.
  • Norbulingka: The Dalai Lama’s summer palace – a serene garden palace of art and architecture.
  • Barkhor Market: A bustling pilgrim circuit lined with prayer wheels, thangka paintings, turquoise jewelry, and Tibetan handicrafts.
