- Viridiana Alvarez who completed her 8000 x 14 peaks in 2023.
- Sophie Lavaud who completed her 8000 x 14 peaks in 2023.
- Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, The first Asian woman IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide completed her 8000 x 14 peaks in 2024.

Why Cho-Oyu?
-
1. Safety & Accessibility
- Widely regarded as the safest 8,000m peak, Cho-Oyu offers manageable technical difficulty with only limited icefall, rockfall, or avalanche risk compared to other 8000m peaks.
- Gradual slopes and straightforward routes (e.g., the Northwest Ridge) minimize exposure to objective hazards, making it ideal for climbers transitioning to the “death zone.”
- Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience in high-altitude mountaineering. A successful ascent of a peak exceeding 7,000 meters is a critical prerequisite and is highly recommended for all team members.
-
2. Optimal Weather Conditions
- Cho-Oyu’s location on the Nepal-Tibet border ensures more stable weather windows than peaks in Nepal or Pakistan, maximizing your time for acclimatization and summit pushes.
- Clear autumn seasons (September–October) provide reliable climbing conditions with lower wind speeds and precipitation.
-
3. Ideal First 8,000m Experience
Learn critical high-altitude skills:
- Oxygen system management
- Fixed-line ascents and glacier travel
- Acclimatization rotations (living at 6,000m+ for weeks)
- Team coordination with experienced Sherpa guides
Summit success rates are high for prepared climbers, offering a confidence boost for future 8,000m goals.
-
4. Gateway to Everest & Beyond
- Cho-Oyu’s “easier” profile does not diminish its value—it is the ultimate training ground for Everest, Lhotse, or Makalu.
- Experience the physical and mental demands of 8,000m climbing without the extreme risks of more technical peaks.
