Bhaktapur

Trip Overview

A UNESCO World Heritage Site on the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur is an ancient city about 12km outside of Kathmand. Once the capital of Nepal in the 15th century, today it`s Nepal`s third largest city and renown as being a city of devotees, culture, temples and craft work. Among its many varied temples, the most impressive is the five-storey Nyatapola Temple on Taumadhi Tole. It is the tallest temple in Nepal built in 1702 during the reign of King Bhupatindra Malla. It was during the reign of the Malla`s that Durbar Square acquired most of it`s beautiful buildings and prominence as a great city in The Kathmandu Valley.
