Trip Overview

Climbalaya offers expedition to Mount Everest, known by the Nepalese as Sagarmatha and by the Tibetans as Chomolungma. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary successfully summitted Mt. Everest the south col route on May 29th 1953. To ensure a safe, successful and a memorable trip, Climbalaya specializes in focusing our resources, strength and expertise on smaller teams. The expedition will be supported by Mt. Everest summitter and UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain guide and Instructor Mr. Phurba Namgyal Sherpa, as base camp manager.

For the approach to base camp, we have designed program to walk at a comfortable pace and at small altitude increment and we highly advise clients to consider this option strongly. Trip includes a climbing peak to Lobuche East 6119m which is one of the most popular climbing peak in the Kumbu.

It is an excellent trip for testing yourself while getting acquainted with the use of equipment such as ice axe, rock and rope, climbing on fixed lines, using crampons while getting familiar with our climbing Sherpas. The other advantage with this acclimatization program is that the expedition cuts one trip less through the icefall and has the chance to enjoy much better views of Everest and its surrounding peaks.

Our team of staff, climbing Sherpas, cooks and guides are handpicked, government licensed, experienced and qualified. During rest and recuperation at base camp, we have comfortable accommodations with personal sleeping tents with storage areas, shower facilities, private toilets, solar power and excellent heated dining facilities.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: International arrival in Kathmandu (1350m, 4429ft).
  • Day 2-3: In Kathmandu for official procedures and last minute shopping.
  • Day 4: Transfer to the domestic airport terminal for flight to Lukla (2840m, 9,152ft) and trek to Phakding. (2610m, 8561ft)
  • Day 5: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m, 11,283ft). The region’s main commercial centre.
  • Day 6: In Namche Bazar for acclimatization.
  • Day 7: Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3860m, 12,661ft).
  • Day 8: Trek to Dingboche.
  • Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4910m, 16,105ft).
  • Day 10: Rest day for acclimatization in Lobuche.
  • Day 11: Trek to Everest base camp. (5364m, 17,594ft).
  • Day 12-13: At base camp. (5364m, 17,594ft).
  • Day 14: Puja ceremony at base camp.
  • Day 15: Training at base camp.
  • Day 16: Rest day
  • Day 17: Trek to Lobuche.
  • Day 18: Lobuche east high camp 5800m, 19,024 ft.

Cost includes

  • Mt. Everest permit fee, Lobuche east climbing permit fee, rope fixing fees payable to concerned authorities and all government taxes.
  • Services of UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain guide and Instructor Phurba Namgyal Sherpa as base camp manager.
  • One high altitude climbing Sherpa per climber to carry all food and gears to higher camps. Also assist the member during climb and summit attempt.

  • 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu with breakfast plan as per itinerary.
  • Fullboard accommodation at the lodges during trekking Lukla-base camp -Lukla.
  • Spacious single tent with mattress and pillow for each member at base camp with personal solared light.
  • High altitude tents for all members and climbing Sherpas.
  • Kitchen tent, common store tent, carpeted dining tent with heater, toilet tents, tables and chairs, and kitchen utensils at base camp for members.

  • Personal insurance such as travel, accident, medical, emergency evacuation, and lost luggage
  • Applicable permit fees and customs charges, etc. for SAT phone, communication equipment, and commercial filming
  • Expenses of a personal nature such as hard and soft drinks, laundry, postage, telephone, Email, etc.

Grade I

  • Easy to moderate hiking and trekking
  • Light packs (10kg)
  • Elevations often below 2500m

Grade II

  • Moderate to strenuous trekking
  • May require carrying bag pack (10kg)
  • Elevations from 2500m to 5500m
  • Moderate terrain
  • Nights are spent in lodge or tents
  • Trek duration of two weeks in high altitude

Grade III

  • Moderate to strenuous trekking
  • May require carrying bag packs (12)
  • Elevations from 2800m to 5500m
  • Moderate to intermediate terrain with short scrambling and descent on moraine/scree sections
  • Nights are spent in tents or lodge
  • Three high passes above 4500m
  • May involve travel to remote areas
  • Trek duration up to three weeks
  • Average of six hours trek per day

    Grade IV

    • Strenuous trekking and climbing
    • May require carrying bag packs (12)
    • Elevations from 2800m to 5500m
    • Moderate to intermediate terrain with short scrambling and descent on moraine/scree sections
    • Terrain might be snow or ice or rock or all mixed including glaciers
    • Few nights are spent in tent at high altitude during peak ascent
    • Nights are spent in tents or lodge
    • Involves travel in remote areas
    • Trek duration of two to three weeks
    • Includes several high passes trek and 6000m peak ascent
    • Minimum seven hours of average trek per day

    Grade V

    • Strenuous climbing
    • May require carrying bag packs (15kg)
    • High or extreme altitude with elevation above 7000m
    • Intermediate to advance terrain
    • Nights are spent in tents
    • Moderate to extreme glacier travel is involved
    • Travel in remote areas
    • Usually expedition duration above four weeks
